The City’s construction contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC is currently 15 percent complete with the French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project. Construction crews are currently working in the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Bourbon St.
The majority of the underground utilities have been installed in the 100 block of Bourbon St. already. Crews will be paving the roadway in concrete by the end of July.
Entergy is currently installing new duct banks in the 200 block while a crew on the opposite side of the block installs new water and drainage lines.
The new drainage siphon in the 300 block of Bourbon St. has been installed while construction crews are 2/3 and 60 percent complete installing the new water and drainage lines, respectively
The improvements are an element of the Citywide Public Safety Improvement Program launched earlier this year and include reconstructing Bourbon St. from Canal to Dumaine streets, repaving portions of St. Ann St., St. Peters St., Iberville St., Madison St., Chartres St. and Conti St., installing new streetlights and improving sidewalk conditions in the French Quarter. The project is being closely coordinated with a number of stakeholders including the Sewerage and Water Board, Entergy and AT&T.
Residents and business owners in the French Quarter can expect to be kept updated on construction status via weekly e-mail updates and also in person bi-weekly meetings the first and third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. To be added to the project contact list, write roadwork@nola.gov.
